Women Against War Leafleting at the NYS Food Festival, Wed, August 7th, Noon-1 PM
Women Against War’s project, Pathways to Peace, has organized a summer leafleting campaign on the need to redirect the US military budget. On Wednesday, August 7th, from noon-1 PM, we’ll be leafleting the crowds at the NYS Food Festival on the Empire State Plaza. Please join us if you can help – if you wish you can also pick up some leaflets there to hand out at your favorite farmers’ market or other event!
We will gather at the State Street (north end) entrance to the Plaza at noon and then spread out to hand out fliers. Maud will be leafleting on the route into the open Plaza, so look for her there if you need to come later.
Great parking news! Janet Poole arranged with Westminster Presbyterian Church that we can use their parking lot during our leafleting efforts. They ask us to use the center of the lot and leave a note on the dashboard saying we are with Women Against War. The parking lot of the church is on Chestnut Street between Dove and Swan. Chestnut is one way going toward the Plaza.
The Peace Vigil on the first Wednesday of each month, usually in front of the Capitol, will relocate to that northern end of the open Plaza to be a peace presence accompanying the leafleters. The vigil will be as usual from 12:15-1 PM. Feel free to join that vigil, too, if that appeals more than the leafleting.
