May 6 – Albany: Women Against War’s “Pathways to Peace Committee” gathering outside steps of the LOB at noon, standing in conjunction with fellow citizens around the world on the occasion of GDAMS [GLOBAL DAYS OF ACTION ABOUT MILITARY SPENDING] . We will be holding a press conference at 12:30 to underscore how the billions spent annually in the guise of defense robs governments, including NYS, of the capacity to adequately support human need.

Following the press conference, where Assemblyman Phil Steck will be a speaker, we will go inside the Capitol to vigil and leaflet on the issue of our militarized budget outside the Assembly Chamber as members arrive.

Women Against War will then be formally introduced and recognized from the Assembly floor when the day’s session begins.
Please wear black if possible to communicate our seriousness of purpose! We will be supplying green scarves to underscore our message of moving money for war into a life affirming economy.
