Women Against War is meeting with you today to discuss the Bush administration’s saber rattling in preparation for possible military action against Iran. We believe that no justification currently exists for any form of military action against Iran. We are here as concerned women to make our voices heard in opposition to any impending military action against Iran. According to numerous experts, a war with Iran will only produce catastrophic results. We feel a deep sense of horror at news reports of the Bush administration’s planned options for bombing Iran, possibly even using nuclear weapons. We do not want innocent women, children, and other civilians to die in a preventable war. We were misled into the war in Iraq and we will not be misled into a war with Iran. We are alarmed about the reports of increased U.S. clandestine activities inside Iran and the planning of a possible major attack. Myths and falsehoods are being used to justify the invasion of yet another sovereign nation. This is deeply troubling to us and we feel it is of the utmost importance to present ___(Senator Schumer, Senator Clinton, Representative Gillibrand, or Representative McNulty) with a list of demands we trust ___ will address. We would like ___ to respond to these concerns. We want to hear how ___ will act in Congress to address each of these steps necessary to prevent military escalation against Iran. |
